The Southern Knights Cruisers, Inc. Proudly Presented the 8th Annual MDA Car Show with the help of the the Office of Central Virginia MDA on August 11, 2007 at Richard Bland College located in beautiful Prince George, VA. The money raised was officially announced during the "Jerry Lewis" MDA Telethon on WRIC Channel 8 TV over Labor Day weekend. We wish to thank all that attend and make this possible. You are the ones that deserve the credit.

With your help, our friends in the MDA Office raised a total of $781,000 at this years Telethon and can now plan activities for helping Jerry's Kids her in Central Virginia. If you should have any questions about Muscular Dystrophy and how MDA helps "Jerry's Kids" call 804-285-2961.

  • August 9 - 9th Annual MDA Car Show sponsored by the Southern Knights Cruisers Car Club at Richard Bland College in Petersburg, VA. The SKC is working directly with the Muscular Dystrophy Association again in 2008 to present the 9th Annual MDA Car Show on Saturday, August 9, 2008, and all funds will go to benefit MD research and patients in Central Virginia. Partnering with Strosnider Chevrolet of Hopewell, Collision One of Mechancisville & Tappahannock, Hardee’s Restaurants, and Balch Automotive & Collision, this show will again be the Premier Car Show for the Richmond Metro & Tri-Cities area. There will be awards in this years show for Antique vehicles, classics, customs, muscle cars, race cars, street rods, 4x4 custom trucks, and bikes. More on these soon! Special awards will be given with a total of over 100 awards being given out. Also, lots of vendors will be there displaying their specialty items.   • September 19-21 - Field Days of the Past Rockville, VA. HOURS: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Most exhibits close at 6 p.m. Special truck events are planned after 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings.

    What is Field Day of the Past? Field Day of the Past is a family event sponsored by the Rockville-Centerville Steam and Gas Historical Association. This show mixes the warm, down-home atmosphere of the county fairs of yesteryear with exhibits and displays of museum quality. In the summer of 1992, a few steam and gas engine collectors gathered for an informal discussion on the possibity of hosting a steam and gas engine show in Goochland County, VA. They organized the Rockville-Centerville Steam and Gas Historical Association and hosted its first show, which attracted 5,000 people. Today the show has expanded into a 3 day event, held the third full weekend in September and draws a crowd of approximately 30,000 people annually.

    What does Field Day of the Past have to offer? Historical displays and exhibits, re-enactments, tractor and truck pulls, small engine displays, arts and crafts, flea market, antique and modern construction equipment demonstrations, a log cabin with ongoing heritage craft demonstrations can be experienced throughout the weekend. Volunteers demonstrate the daily rountines of the life of a family surving in early rural Virginia which include wheat and peanut threshing, meat smoking, the making of sorghum molasses, washing clothes, canning, saw milling and other chores.

    Permanent exhibits and structures include a working United States post office, a 1930's grocery store and garage, fire lookout tower, blacksmith shop, wood wright shop, ice house, gold mining equipment, Pullman railroad car and engine buildings.

    New attractions and events are added each year. Some of the newer attractions include the Virginia High School Rodeo, a frontier show and lawn mower pulls and racing. Complete details are available in the Field Day of the Past newspaper that is published three times a year and distributed around the state free of charge. ADMISSION: $10 per person/per day for adults. Children under the age of 13 are admitted free of charge. The admission charge does not include carnival rides. Friday, Sept. 21st is Senior Citizens Day. All those 55 years or older will be admitted for $8 on Friday.Two-Day passes are available at the gates for $15.     DIRECTIONS: The Field Day of the Past show grounds are located at the intersection of Rt. 623 (Ashland Rd.) and Rt. 622 in Goochland County, off I-64, Exit #173 (Rockville-Manakin) south. Grounds are located 1/8 mile from the interstate. Follow the signs. From the south take I-95 N to I-64 west and take Exit #173. From the north take I-95 S to I-295. Merge onto I-64W to Exit #173. From the west, take I-81 to I-64 E and take Exit #173. From those south of the James River, take Rt. 288 N to Broad Street Road West exit (Rt. 250) and go approximately one mile to stoplight at Rt. 623 (Ashland Rd.). Turn right and follow signs

    • Cruise the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month in Frederick, MD - April through October from 6 pm until 10 pm. Cruise-ins are held in Frederick, MD at the Mr. Tire (was Donald B. Rice) parking lot over in the Fredericktowne Mall off Rte 40 (the Golden Mile). Cruise-Ins are open to anyone and any vehicle. If you have a car or vehicle that you love to show off, bring it to the  Golden Gears Cruise-In...DJ, music, Dash Plaques (2nd Sat), 50/50 and food available.

    • 2nd Sat of Month (May-Sep) At Hardees, 17th Street West in Huntington, West Virginia. Sponsored by Local Hardee's.

    • Cruise-in 3rd Saturday Frederick, MD - The Mid Maryland Ford Club (MMFC) is holding a cruise-in on the 3rd Saturday of the month at Fredericktowne Mall which is located on Rt 40 west, on the west side of Frederick.     • Cruise-in 3rd Saturday Orange, VA - Orange County Cruisers hold monthly  "Cruise Night" at the local Burger King, at the Orange Village Shopping Center, Rt.15 North, every 3rd Saturday of the month beginning in April through October from 6 to 10 pm. Music is provided by Rock N' Country DJ (one of our sponsors!). Included is a hula-hoop and dance participation contest. Adults are also entertained with a live full size Drag Racing Christmas Tree competing for the best reaction time and top prize. Also adults may compete in a Putt-Putt contest winning prizes for the first hole in one. Other functions on site include the manager choice awards for the featured Car and Truck of the month. The winning featured Car and Truck gets a saved (special) parking space to be on display the following month for all to enjoy. Door prizes are handed out throughout out the night, gift certificates donated by local businesses, 50/50 drawing, and there is even a setting for your dancing pleasure.     • Third Sat. - Yesterday's Cruisers of Winchester, Inc. have a new cruise-in on the third Saturday of every month. It will be located at the Kmart store located at 1675 South Pleasant Valley Rd, Winchester, Virginia. It's from 6 to 9 pm. There's a Taco Bell and Ruby Tuesdays on site for food. Also nearby is a McDonalds, a Waffle House and Chilis.

    • Third Sat. - LYNCHBURG CRUSIE NIGHT AT THE LYNCHBURG MALL in Lynchburg, VA - Starting in March through Sept. every third Saturday.
